Engineering Excellence Manager | Defence & Aerospace

Kidderminster
£70,000 - £75,000 + bonus + excellent benefits

A leading defence and aerospace engineering organisation is looking for an experienced Engineering Excellence Manager to help shape and develop the capability of its Engineering function.

This is a broad and influential role, covering engineering capability, PLM/ALM systems, configuration management, governance and continuous improvement.

You’ll work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Programmes, HR and IT to ensure the Engineering function has the people, skills, systems and processes required to support both current and future programmes.

The role will involve:

  • Developing the Engineering skills and capability strategy
  • Leading competency management, skills development and succession planning
  • Supporting engineering resource and workforce planning
  • Managing and improving PLM and ALM systems
  • Driving digital engineering and engineering systems improvements
  • Leading engineering configuration management across the product lifecycle
  • Ensuring drawings, technical data and engineering documentation are effectively controlled
  • Developing engineering governance, standards and processes
  • Identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting engineering audits, compliance and quality requirements
  • Working with internal stakeholders and external technology providers

About you:

We're looking for an experienced engineering professional with a background in Aerospace, Defence or another highly regulated engineering environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Degree/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant engineering experience
  • Experience developing engineering capability or competency frameworks
  • Experience managing PLM systems
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management and engineering documentation
  • Understanding of engineering governance and quality systems
  • Proven experience delivering continuous improvement
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Experience with ALM, digital engineering, MBSE, Lean Six Sigma or engineering transformation would be advantageous.
