Looking for Development Consultants

We are looking for Development consultants to join our team of Engineering & Manufacturing Associates and be part of a growing network of associates.

This role gives you the opportunity to work with City & Guilds alongside your current job, to build additional income with competitive daily rates and contribute to expanding your skills and development.

Development Consultant Role

Development Consultants have one of the most wide-ranging roles of all City & Guilds Associates, with the possibility of being involved in many different parts of the qualification and assessment development process. Some of the key roles and responsibilities that you may conduct are:

  • Scoping qualification content - e.g., qualification and unit structures, rules of combinations, assessment design
  • Writing unit content
  • Drafting assessments and sample assessment materials - e.g., multiple-choice question papers, knowledge tests, practical assessments, professional discussions, portfolios of evidence
  • Reviewing and amending assessments as part of reviewing panels or as a scrutineer
  • Reviewing the mapping of content against standards or other qualifications

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
