Engineering & Facilities Technician
We are seeking a qualified Engineering & Facilities Technician to join our Protein Works team, ensuring our site and production equipment run reliably and correctly. This is a high-impact, multi-faceted opportunity where you won't just maintain equipment, you will drive site reliability, master complex infrastructure, and ensure operational excellence across a fast-paced, regulated food manufacturing environment.
As a key player in a close-knit engineering team, you will experience the full end-to-end operational lifecycle. Rather than just taking work orders, you will spearhead root-cause diagnostics, research technical solutions, manage supplier and contractor relationships, and drive data-backed improvements through our CMMS. Here, you get true autonomy and end-to-end ownership of your workload.
Ideal for a reliability-focused engineer seeking comprehensive exposure, this role offers hands-on involvement with cutting-edge machinery, critical site infrastructure, and automated systems. You will gain broad, well-rounded experience while running solo shifts, providing an unmatched platform to showcase your problem-solving expertise, self-motivation, and technical leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About Protein Works
Founded in 2012 on a clear conviction: the sports nutrition industry had become complacent, and there was a better way to do it. Over a decade later, we are a £50m business with five consecutive years of double-digit growth, a brand new £10m campus in Liverpool, and ambitions that go well beyond where we are today.
We are a brand, a retailer, a manufacturer and a fulfilment operation. All in-house, all under one roof. That breadth is deliberate. It gives our people exposure and influence that most businesses simply cannot offer, and it gives us a platform to scale in a way that few companies in this space can match.
We are growing, investing and hiring with purpose. If you want to join a business with the energy of a challenger and the foundations of a market leader, this is the right moment to do it.
