Behind the scenes, our Engineering team plays a vital role in making all of this possible. They are responsible for the design of our sites, the engineering management of our fleet and onsite transport vehicles, and the facilities management that keeps our operations running safely & efficiently, and finally the sustainably of the site operations.
This is a programme for practical thinkers and proactive doers: people who thrive on understanding how systems work, who enjoy tackling technical challenges, and who can balance precision with pace in a busy operational environment. You’ll learn to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly across functions, and make sound engineering decisions that keep our operations moving and our customers served.

The Sysco GB Graduate Programme
The Sysco GB Graduate Programme is designed to give you a dynamic and inspiring start to your career. What You’ll Experience
Our Engineering Graduate Programme gives you the opportunity to be part of this essential function - developing the technical capability, problem-solving mindset, and operational understanding needed to help shape the future of Sysco’s infrastructure and logistics.
You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full scope of our engineering environment, from supporting the design and optimisation of our depots, to maintaining critical equipment, to working on projects that enhance fleet performance, energy efficiency, and site reliability. You’ll work directly with experienced engineers, project managers, and facilities specialists who will challenge, support, and coach you as you build confidence and expertise.
The first 6 months of your programme will be spent fully immersing yourself into our Operations and Distribution business. This will involve working as part of the warehouse and transport teams, experiencing both day and night shifts and really getting to know and understand how we operate and deliver to our customers.
After your induction period, you’ll continue to be based out of the depot but will be working across key projects supporting any one of our sites across the UK. Through key placements in Design, Fleet & General Engineering you’ll be gaining experience in…

- Fleet and vehicle engineering
- Facilities management
- Participation in large-scale engineering projects
- Exposure to continuous improvement and reliability engineering
- Development of technical documentation
You’ll also be fully supported to complete various technical training to support your journey to Chartership. This is your chance to make an impact, learn from industry experts, and kick start your career towards becoming a Project Engineer within one of our teams.
Key Info
- This programme is based from our Warrington site but will require regular travel across the UK to our depot and office locations. In addition, there will be graduate workshops and other key business events that may take place at sites across the UK.
- There is potential for a company car in year 2 of the programme dependent on your project sites.
- Placement rotations will be a combination of fully onsite and hybrid working models
- 39 hrs a week, Monday – Friday (some night shift working during initial induction period so that you get to experience our full operation)
- Week 1 is a central graduate induction held at our Reading site (all accommodation and travel included)

What you’ll need to succeed
- A minimum of a 2:1 or above Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering degree field
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in Engineering
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment & independently
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn
- Initiative and a growth mindset
