Role: Engineering Lead/ Architect (Java or.Net)

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)
Job Type: Contract

Job Description

Delivery Leadership

  • Own end-to-end delivery of software projects (scope, schedule, cost, quality).
  • Ensure successful execution using Agile, Scrum, or hybrid methodologies.
  • Drive release planning, sprint execution, and delivery governance.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Client Engagement (Onsite Role)

  • Act as the single point of contact for client stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with business and technical teams.
  • Understand client requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Conduct regular status reviews, steering meetings, and executive updates.

Team Management

  • Lead cross-functional teams (developers, QA, DevOps, architects).
  • Mentor and guide team members to ensure high performance.
  • Manage resource allocation, onboarding, and performance tracking.

Program & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate across multiple projects/workstreams.
  • Align delivery with business objectives and KPIs.
  • Manage expectations of senior stakeholders and executives.

Quality & Process Excellence

  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, QA processes, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Implement metrics-driven delivery (velocity, defects, SLAs, KPIs).

Technical & Delivery Skills

  • Strong background in software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Ability to understand architecture and guide technical decisions.

Experience

  • 17+ years in software development/delivery roles.
  • 8+ years in leadership or program management roles.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale enterprise projects.
  • Experience working in onsite-offshore delivery models.
