Engineering Lead - Electrical

University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire

Some engineering roles move you away from the tools.

This isn't one of them.

Mitie is investing heavily in its engineering capability across one of the Midlands' largest and most complex healthcare estates and we're looking for an exceptional Engineering Lead - Electrical to become the recognised technical authority for critical electrical systems at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire. This is a rare opportunity for a highly experienced engineer who wants to remain technically hands-on whilst taking responsibility for solving complex engineering challenges, influencing technical standards and helping shape the future of critical engineering services.

Working within a Major Trauma Centre operating 24/7, you'll be the person colleagues turn to when systems fail, faults become complex and engineering expertise really matters.

The Opportunity

As the recognised electrical subject matter expert for the estate, you'll provide technical leadership across a diverse range of critical infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, safety and compliance of systems that directly support patient care.

This is a technical leadership role rather than a people management position, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys remaining close to the operation whilst being recognised for their expertise.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Acting as the senior electrical technical specialist across a complex acute healthcare estate.
  • Leading the diagnosis and resolution of complex electrical faults affecting critical infrastructure.
  • Providing technical leadership for HV and LV distribution systems, standby generation, UPS systems and critical power supplies.
  • Holding Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities and supporting safe systems of work across the estate.
  • Supporting lifecycle projects, asset replacement programmes and engineering improvements.
  • Coaching and developing engineering teams through technical mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Working closely with Trust stakeholders, Authorising Engineers and specialist contractors.
  • Participating in the senior technical on-call and escalation rota.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
