Job Description
We’re looking for an Engineering Lead to join the embedded finance team. Our mission is to build the world's best embedded finance platform for our partners. You’ll be working closely with multiple functions within our vertical from solutions engineering and business development to understand the pain points of some of the largest enterprises in the world. Together you’ll help partners such as Google, Deel, Ramp and Agoda, leverage Wise’s infrastructure to offer their customers world class embedded finance products through their own channels. This will help us transform the international payments experience for even more customers and have a significant impact on Wise’s mission.
This is a hands-on engineering lead role that will support the engineers in their growth and driving technical decisions in building reliable, scalable products. You will be working closely with a product manager in developing a long term vision and roadmap for the team and their domain.

What will you be working on?
- Designing, developing, and maintaining the team’s services.
- Mentoring and supporting engineers in the team in their growth and development.
- Supporting the team in technical decisions to make sure we build a high quality product that is reliable and scalable.
- Working closely with a Product Manager to own and drive the team’s direction and product plans.
- Collaborating with teams across Wise to deliver real impact and expand the functionality we can offer to our partners on our platform.
- Ownership of the team’s services and product. Pushing best practices and high quality products.
Qualifications
We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!
- Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on experience of Java (or similar stacks).
- Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Product mindset — you think about customer impact, not just technical implementation.
- Strong experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
- Following and advocating best coding practices, continuous delivery and code reviews.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and stakeholders.

Starting salary: £105,000-£135,000 + RSU's
