Engineering Lead - Financial Planning Platform (iRESS Xplan)

Overview

We're looking for an Engineering Lead to take ownership of a Financial Planning platform centred around iRESS Xplan. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical delivery, platform ownership, and people leadership.

You'll be responsible for the design, development, integration, and ongoing operation of Xplan, ensuring it works seamlessly with wider business systems including CRM, data platforms, and middleware technologies.

This role would suit someone with deep iRESS Xplan expertise, strong engineering leadership experience, and a background within Wealth Management, Financial Advice, or Financial Services.

What You'll Be Doing

Technical Leadership

  • Own the technical roadmap and architecture for the Financial Planning platform.
  • Define and maintain engineering standards across code quality, testing, documentation, and releases.
  • Lead technical design reviews and architectural decisions.
  • Balance new feature delivery against technical debt and platform improvements.
  • Act as the senior technical authority for Financial Planning technology.

Platform Engineering & Delivery

  • Design, build, and support solutions across the Xplan ecosystem.
  • Develop APIs, integrations, serverless functions, and backend services.
  • Implement modern engineering practices including Git, CI/CD, automated testing, and code reviews.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Support platform upgrades, releases, and operational stability.

Xplan Configuration & Customisation

  • Configure and customise Xplan workflows, forms, campaigns, and business processes.
  • Build and maintain custom business logic, templates, and document generation capabilities.
  • Support adviser and paraplanning workflows through effective platform design.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
