Well, what about the team?
As an Engineering Lead in Matchday and as part of the Sports domain, you will be at the forefront of managing technical aspects and setting the pace, leading by example throughout your team's endeavors. You'll lead a group of engineers, providing clear guidance to help them achieve exceptional results. Your hands-on engineering experience will be an integral part of your leadership style, as you actively contribute as a team member.
You work closely with your local Product Owner to ensure successful delivery of the product backlog across the entire Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), with a strong focus on delivering a customer experience that we can be proud of, setting a high standard for excellence.
So, what will you be doing?
- Team Leadership: Lead the team, ensuring they achieve their goals and outcomes effectively.
- Hands-on Contribution: Actively participate in team delivery, ensuring you are driving the work to completion.
- Product Delivery: Collaborate with our Product Owner throughout the delivery lifecycle to deliver our product backlog.
- Software Engineering Excellence: Promote and uphold high-quality software engineering practices within your team and work with the organization to continuously improve ways of working.
- Maximizing Efficiency: Minimize distractions and create a developer-friendly environment to maximize team productivity.
- Balancing Technical and People Skills: Leverage your skills and experience to balance technical, people, process, and delivery aspects.
- Team Collaboration: Foster a culture of teamwork and strong engineering practices, leading by example with a proactive and can-do attitude.
- Cross-Team Support: Help to build a culture of teamwork across the Sports domain that supports the efficient delivery of value to our customers.

And what are we looking for?
- Software Development: Ideally have a background in backend software development using technologies like Java, Spring Boot, AWS, GraphQL, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Engage, coach, mentor, facilitate, and empower team members to reach their full potential.
- Effective Communication: Provide context and information to your team as part of the wider leadership team and represent your team's perspective to the organization.
- Issue Resolution and Feedback: Know how to escalate issues and provide constructive feedback in a positive and proactive manner. Commitment to continuous improvement, working tirelessly to optimize team performance.
- Recent Hands-On Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency through recent hands-on experience as a developer or QA, underscoring your deep technical acumen.
- Champion of Best Practices: Proficiency in championing and applying software engineering best practices, exemplifying your commitment to quality.
- Leadership: Possess leadership skills that ignite inspiration and guidance within a team, steering them towards excellence.
