We're looking for an experienced Engineering Lead to join our UK team on a fixed-term contract basis.
As an Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in translating solution architecture into practical engineering execution. You will work closely with architects, product owners and delivery teams to define engineering strategies, shape high-performing teams and ensure successful delivery of complex technology programmes. This role requires an experienced technical leader who can combine deep engineering expertise with strong delivery leadership, enabling teams to move quickly whilst maintaining engineering excellence and quality standards.
Location: London, UK (Hybrid or Remote Basis)
Type: Fixed Term Contract (12+ Months)
Key Responsibilities
- Convert solution architecture and business requirements into executable engineering delivery plans.
- Break down large-scale strategic outcomes into epics, features and manageable delivery increments.
- Establish engineering standards, governance principles and technical guardrails across programmes.
- Shape and build delivery teams, identifying capability requirements and defining optimal team structures.
- Challenge technical assumptions, proposed solutions and delivery estimates to ensure realistic outcomes.
- Lead technical discovery workshops with business and technology stakeholders.
- Drive engineering excellence through pragmatic decision making and hands-on technical leadership.
- Enable delivery teams to execute effectively by removing blockers and providing technical direction.
- Collaborate with architects, product owners and senior stakeholders to align technology delivery with business objectives.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering, DevOps and software delivery practices.

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an Engineering Lead, Principal Engineer, Senior Staff Engineer or similar technical leadership role.
- Strong background delivering enterprise-scale software engineering programmes.
- Experience translating architecture and solution designs into engineering roadmaps and delivery plans.
- Expertise in Agile delivery methodologies and modern software engineering practices.
- Ability to decompose complex initiatives into clear and achievable delivery increments.
- Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation experience.
- Experience defining engineering standards, architectural guardrails and development best practices.
- Excellent understanding of software development lifecycles, DevOps and cloud-based delivery.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make pragmatic engineering decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities with experience mentoring and guiding engineering teams.
