Engineering Leader - Product and Technology is responsible for Leading engineering delivery for the SP&S product and technology portfolio, translating portfolio priorities into safe, compliant, manufacturable designs of products and technologies. Lead engineering capability planning, resources and execution required to deliver NPI, product improvement, qualification and first-article readiness across the product lifecycle.

As a Engineering Leader - Product and Technology, you will be responsible for:

  • Converting product roadmaps, technology themes, and key-account priorities into integrated engineering delivery plans.
  • Aligning engineering scope, architecture, technical objectives, and success criteria with Portfolio Leadership and Technology Portfolio Delivery teams.
  • Providing engineering input to investment prioritization, feasibility assessments, risk evaluations, and delivery sequencing decisions.
  • Providing strategic leadership for new product and technology development programs, ensuring alignment with portfolio priorities, business objectives, and customer requirements.
  • Supporting the NPI Engineering Leader in delivering committed scope, budget, schedule, resource, and technical objectives while removing execution barriers and enabling successful stage-gate progression.
  • Resolving escalated cross-product dependencies, resource conflicts, and technical risks through timely decision-making and effective recovery planning.
  • Leading the Product Engineering Leadership team across all product lines, aligning priorities, capabilities, and resources with portfolio objectives.
  • Guiding Product Engineering Leaders in developing competitive, scalable, and standardized product architectures across the portfolio.
  • Serving as the senior escalation point for cross-product technical, resource, and lifecycle issues while partnering with the Chief Engineering Office on technical approvals, engineering standards, and root-cause resolution.
  • Defining and driving a common Product Engineering performance framework using data, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, standardization, and lifecycle performance.
  • Ensuring product designs comply with customer requirements, regulatory standards, product safety expectations, and quality requirements.
  • Embedding systems engineering, requirements management, design reviews, verification processes, and qualification disciplines across engineering programs.
  • Coordinating technical authority engagement and Chief Engineering Office reviews to ensure independent assurance and governance approvals.
  • Building and deploying the engineering capabilities, skills, and organizational capacity required to support product and technology portfolio objectives.
  • Leading multidisciplinary global engineering teams while strengthening succession planning, technical expertise, and knowledge-sharing practices.
  • Aligning engineering capacity with business demand and managing transparent trade-offs when resource constraints arise.
  • Partnering with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Services, and Quality teams to ensure products are manufacturable, testable, serviceable, and scalable.
  • Converting qualification outcomes, first-article learnings, project feedback, and field experience into product improvements and updated engineering standards.
  • Driving product reuse strategies, Configure-to-Order (CTO) initiatives, and the reduction of bespoke engineering solutions.
  • Creating strong interfaces between Portfolio Leadership, Technology Portfolio Delivery, Project Engineering, and Operational Governance functions.
  • Providing clear visibility of engineering status, risks, critical decisions, and recovery actions to senior leadership.
  • Enabling disciplined handover processes from product development into tendering, project execution, and lifecycle support activities.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience in delivering engineering execution against product and technology roadmaps, ensuring alignment with strategic portfolio objectives.
  • Have experience in leading the development of safe, compliant, and technically robust products and technologies across global engineering organizations.
  • Have experience in establishing and managing engineering scope, budgets, schedules, resource plans, and delivery commitments for complex product development programs.
  • Have experience in building and managing global engineering capabilities, capacity planning, workforce development, and technical competency frameworks.
  • Have experience in driving design maturity, qualification readiness, validation activities, and first-article engineering support through structured stage-gate processes.
  • Have experience in managing engineering milestone delivery and qualification activities to ensure adherence to program commitments and business objectives.
  • Have experience in improving product quality through effective design reviews, technical issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reduction initiatives.
  • Have experience in enhancing engineering efficiency through standardization, product reuse, Configure-to-Order (CTO) strategies, and reduction of Engineering-to-Order (ETO) activities.
  • Have experience in driving technology readiness, qualification gate progression, and engineering program readiness across multiple product lines.
  • Have experience in assessing and developing critical engineering skills, succession planning, leadership capability, and workforce capacity alignment.
  • Have experience in supporting industrialization efforts by improving standard content, manufacturability, scalability, and first-article readiness.
  • Have experience in developing and executing integrated Product and Technology Engineering Delivery Plans.
  • Have experience in creating engineering resource, workforce, and capability plans aligned with strategic portfolio requirements.
  • Have experience in managing NPI and NTI engineering milestones, risks, performance metrics, and executive reporting dashboards.
  • Have experience in conducting design maturity assessments, technical assurance reviews, and qualification readiness evaluations.
  • Have experience in driving engineering standardization, modularization, product reuse, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Have experience in translating technical learnings, qualification outcomes, project feedback, and field-performance insights into product improvements and engineering standards.
  • Have strong leadership skills in empowering engineering teams with clear accountability, decision-making authority, and ownership while maintaining strategic oversight.
  • Be skilled in defining clear governance and accountabilities between engineering delivery, portfolio strategy, and project execution functions.
  • Have experience in aligning engineering resource commitments with portfolio priorities, business objectives, and available organizational capabilities.
  • Be capable of driving consistency across product engineering organizations and institutionalizing lifecycle learning, knowledge sharing, and best-practice adoption across the enterprise.
  • Have strong stakeholder management skills to effectively collaborate with Portfolio Leadership, Project Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams.
  • Have strong strategic planning and decision-making capabilities to balance engineering priorities, delivery commitments, technical risks, and resource constraints.
