Are you an experienced engineering leader who thrives on developing people, solving complex challenges and delivering exceptional customer outcomes?
The Built Environment COU is seeking an Engineering Leader to lead our Security & Detection engineering teams across Europe and the Middle East. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a highly skilled, international team working on the certification of innovative fire detection and security products for customers around the world.
You'll join a collaborative, multicultural environment where you'll have the freedom to shape team culture, drive continuous improvement and make a visible impact on both customer success and business performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach and develop a growing team of engineers and project handlers
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Provide/Organize mentoring, training and career development opportunities
- Support engineers in developing technical expertise, project management skills and time management capabilities
- Foster an open-door leadership style where employees feel heard, supported and empowered
Capacity & Resource Management
- Manage team workload, capacity and capability to ensure projects are appropriately resourced
- Monitor project pipelines and proactively address capacity constraints and delivery risks
- Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand project requirements and allocate resources effectively
- Support recruitment, onboarding and team growth activities
Project Delivery & Operational Excellence
- Monitor project execution, milestones and timelines to ensure customer commitments are achieved
- Identify bottlenecks, delays and workflow challenges and implement solutions to improve performance
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues using analytical problem-solving approaches and Lean methodologies
- Drive process improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction and financial performance
- Support workflow by acting as a technical resource and escalation point when required
- Regular reporting of KPIs to management

Customer & Business Leadership
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Anticipate customer needs and provide proactive solutions
- Support sales teams by providing technical guidance and helping identify growth opportunities
- Handle complex customer situations, and project challenges with confidence and professionalism
- Maintain a strong understanding of project pipelines, business priorities and customer expectations
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to UL Solutions policies, quality requirements and industry standards
- Support compliance with UL and EN certification requirements
- Lead and contribute to initiatives that strengthen operational excellence and customer experience
- Responsible for Quality and Audits, their analysis and troubleshooting

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, with Electronics Engineering being the most relevant
- Several years of experience leading technical, engineering or project-based teams
- Strong industry experience and knowledge of the Security & Detection sub-segments
- Experience in project delivery, resource planning and stakeholder management
- Strong coaching and people leadership skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Proven ability to manage complex customer relationships and challenging situations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience working in international and culturally diverse environments
- Strength in the further development of the team
