Location: South West Cumbria – Furness Peninsula

Salary: Up to £37,415 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week

Sector: Further Education / Engineering

TR2 Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a leading Further Education provider in South West Cumbria to recruit an Engineering Lecturer specialising in Quality and Workplace Improvement.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Continuous Improvement professional or Engineering Lecturer who is passionate about developing the next generation of engineering talent.

The role will focus on delivering high-quality engineering education and training, with particular emphasis on quality, workplace improvement, continuous improvement and engineering practices.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and industry-relevant learning to engineering students, helping learners develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours required to succeed within modern engineering environments.

You will contribute to teaching, learning and assessment across engineering programmes, using your industry knowledge and experience to bring subjects to life and ensure learners understand how engineering principles are applied within the workplace.

The Ideal Candidate

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have a strong engineering industry background, alongside experience of training, mentoring, assessing or teaching others.

Previous FE teaching experience would be advantageous, but strong industry professionals with experience of developing apprentices, trainees or junior engineers are also encouraged to apply.

You Should Have

  • A relevant engineering qualification or significant industry experience.
  • Strong practical experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of quality, continuous improvement and workplace improvement methodologies.
  • The ability to communicate technical information clearly to learners.
  • Experience of mentoring, coaching, training, assessing or developing others would be highly desirable.
  • A genuine interest in supporting learners to progress into engineering careers.

A teaching qualification such as PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent would be advantageous, as would an assessor qualification, although relevant industry experience will be considered.

Based in South West Cumbria on the Furness Peninsula, this opportunity offers the chance to work in a well-established engineering and manufacturing region, with the stunning Lake District and surrounding coastline on the doorstep.
