Engineering Maintenance Manager
Location: Leicester
Salary: £50,000 to £55,000 + Pension + Health + Bonus
Shift Pattern: Days 8am - 4.30pm Monday Friday

My client is one of Europe's leading manufacturers of specialist products to a wide variety of industries. With a worldwide presence, the group has gone from strength to strength with over 70 years of experience, with sites in over 50 countries. Due to further expansion, they have the need to recruit an additional maintenance engineer.

The Role
Seeking an experienced and driven Maintenance Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function at our Leicester manufacturing site.
Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the engineering department, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all plant and equipment. You will lead internal and external engineering resources, oversee maintenance and capital investment projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence.
This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a hands-on engineering professional with significant manufacturing experience, strong people management skills and a passion for safety, reliability and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and motivate the Engineering and Maintenance team to achieve operational objectives.
- Build a positive, proactive engineering culture focused on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring maximum equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programmes for all manufacturing equipment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
- Identify equipment improvements and implement solutions to enhance performance and reliability.
- Manage engineering resources, contractors and budgets effectively.
- Prepare departmental budgets, forecasts and expenditure plans.
- Identify, justify and deliver CAPEX projects in line with business objectives.
- Ensure CAPEX projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
- Analyse operational and financial performance to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement.
- Support the introduction of new technologies, equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Recruit, train, mentor and develop engineering team members.
- Oversee the development and progression of Engineering Apprentices.
- Work closely with Production, Quality and Leadership teams to support customer delivery and business objectives.
- Deputise for the Site Manager and Production Manager when required.
- Support the wider strategic goals and continuous improvement initiatives of the business.

Essential
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Engineering experience within a UK manufacturing environment.
- Previous management experience leading engineering or maintenance teams.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, plant reliability and manufacturing operations.
- Proven experience managing engineering budgets and capital expenditure projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication and team development skills.
- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
