Engineering Maintenance Shift Manager (Nightshift)

Salary: Competitive salary Location: Bourne, Lincs | Ways of Working: Site based Hours: 4 on, 4 off (18:00–06:00) | Contract: Permanent

About the Role

As Engineering Maintenance Shift Manager (Night Shift), you’ll:

  • Lead an engineering and operational team in maintaining and optimising food and drink processing/packaging assets.
  • Oversee planned preventative and reactive maintenance, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Combine hands-on leadership with technical solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Develop team capability while contributing to process innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan & deliver maintenance activities (planned predictive & reactive)
  • Diagnose & resolve electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, automation, and pneumatic faults
  • Lead teams during machinery changeovers & equipment set-ups
  • Drive continuous improvement and support failure investigations
  • Conduct technical performance reviews with key stakeholders
  • Maintain engineering documentation (up-to-date & accurate)
  • Ensure proper tooling and spares availability
  • Support audits (internal/external)
  • Manage day-to-day people activities for direct reports

Requirements

  • Strong multi-skilled engineering expertise (particularly electrical bias)
  • Sound knowledge of food manufacturing equipment & hygienic engineering
  • Fault-finding skills (mechanical, electrical, automation systems)
  • Experience in planning maintenance, budgeting, spares, and CMMS
  • Proven leadership in motivating & developing teams
  • Contractor management & safety compliance experience
  • Understanding of health, safety, environment, legislation, and risk management
  • Continuous improvement mindset (reliability/productivity exposure preferred)
  • Excellent communicator with engagement across operations & engineering
