Job Description

At EDF, Success is Personal. Our Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship is more than just a job. Earn while you learn, spend your first two years at the National College for Nuclear in Somerset, and gain the skills, qualifications and experience needed for a successful engineering career. You'll develop valuable engineering skills and help deliver Britain's low-carbon energy future.

The Opportunity and Work Location

This four-year apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to complete an Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship and achieve a BTEC Level 3 qualification, with a starting salary of £17,606.

You'll spend your first two years at the National College for Nuclear based in Somerset, developing practical engineering skills in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation trade disciplines at our industry-leading facilities, including virtual reality environments, while living in outstanding student accommodation. Along the way, you'll build confidence, develop independence and learn alongside other apprentices starting their careers in the industry.

In years 3 and 4, you'll put your learning into practice at Hartlepool nuclear power station, working alongside experienced professionals and gaining real-world experience. By the end of the programme, you'll have achieved recognised qualifications and developed the skills needed for a rewarding career in engineering.

Who You Are

You'll have (or be predicted to achieve) five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent), including Maths, English and two science or technical subjects.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with an interest in engineering, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude towards developing new skills.

If successful at the application and video interview stage, you'll be invited to attend a face-to-face Assessment Centre, with the opportunity to progress to a final interview.

Security Vetting

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the last five years.
