Engineering Manager

Location: Manchester

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Private Medical

Sector: Water | Wastewater | Engineering & Construction

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and engineering delivery across water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, including surveys, design development, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Work closely with civil, process, electrical, and H&S teams to ensure integrated delivery.
  • Guide procurement and equipment selection, factoring lead times into the project programme.
  • Coordinate external designers and subcontractors to ensure work aligns with project objectives and quality standards.
  • Carry out site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure consistent health, safety, and environmental compliance across delivery.
  • Prepare project reports and status updates, flagging key risks and milestones.
  • Feed lessons learned into continuous improvement across the business.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards, preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen, comfortable managing design budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Confident collaborating across multiple disciplines in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving technical issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly in water and wastewater.
  • Proficiency with information management systems and design software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
