Engineering Manager
Palethorpe's, Market Drayton
£75,000 - £80,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus 12 month FTC

What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Head of Engineering (Pastry), you'll lead the site's Asset Care function as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team. You'll drive engineering strategies that support production targets and long-term business objectives.
Engineering & Asset Performance
- Lead preventative and reactive maintenance activities across the site
- Drive equipment reliability, uptime, OEE improvement, and waste reduction initiatives
- Use performance data and root cause analysis to implement sustainable improvements
- Support new equipment introduction and capital projects through effective asset integration

Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing engineering team
- Build engineering capability through succession planning and structured training
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture across all engineering activities
- Ensure statutory compliance across plant, equipment, and engineering systems
- Manage contractor controls and safe systems of work
Food Safety & Quality
- Ensure engineering standards support the highest levels of food safety and GMP compliance
- Maintain utilities and equipment to regulatory standards
Financial Management
- Manage site engineering budgets and expenditure effectively
- Control contractor spend and engineering inventory
- Support and deliver capital investment projects
About You
We're looking for an engaging and commercially aware engineering leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- HNC, HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or equivalent)
- Significant engineering leadership experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or similar manufacturing environment
- Strong track record of improving reliability, maintenance performance, and engineering standards
- Experience managing engineering budgets, contractors, and capital projects
- Excellent people leadership and coaching skills
- Strong root cause analysis and continuous improvement capability
- Experience working with CMMS systems and structured maintenance programmes
- IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or equivalent qualifications would be advantageous
