I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a hands on management position that requires versatility, flexibility and an ability to solve problems – it’s a small person team and therefore the key is that you can get stuck in and are willing to take on a number of the duties directly on a day to day basis.
The standard hours are 7am to 3pm Mon-Fri – but you need to be flexible as there will be call outs (including nights and weekends). Overtime/TOIL is available.
For further information please contact Mark Bux-Ryan.
Key experience:
- Hands on experience in a hands on engineering / maintenance setting – must be within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Pharmaceutical and/or GMP experience would be a nice to have but is not essential
- Supervisory experience ideal but not essential if you have the depth of technical experience and the capability to manage
- Must live (or be willing to live) within one hour of the facility due to call out requirements
- Mechanical and electrical engineering capability would be beneficial
