Hays Engineering is delighted to be partnering with a leading and highly successful engineering manufacturer in County Tyrone to recruit an Engineering Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to join a globally recognised manufacturer renowned for delivering innovative, high-quality products to customers worldwide.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will lead a multidisciplinary design and engineering team, overseeing product development activities from concept through to production while driving continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering excellence across the business.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers and designers while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing engineering and design team.
  • Managing multiple engineering projects from concept design through to manufacture.
  • Driving new product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring engineering activities align with business objectives, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating closely with manufacturing, operations, commercial, and procurement teams.
  • Managing engineering resources, project planning, and department performance.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of engineering strategies and roadmaps.
  • Promoting best practice in design processes, documentation, and product lifecycle management.
  • Reviewing and approving engineering designs, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve product performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.

What You'll Need

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience within a design engineering environment.
  • Previous leadership or management experience within an engineering function.
  • Strong background in product development, mechanical design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and engineering design practices.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to align engineering activity with wider business goals.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within heavy engineering, materials handling, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, or specialist manufacturing sectors.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
