Engineering Manager – Data Engineering
Location: Manchester, UK
Duration: 6 Months (37.5 hrs/week)
About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team through a major enterprise data modernization effort—migrating legacy ERP architecture to SAP S/4HANA (RISE with SAP).
While non-coding, this role requires strong technical credibility to guide architecture, partner with Product and Security teams, and ensure strict compliance with SOX, GDPR/PII, and DMA regulations.

Key Responsibilities
- People Leadership: Direct management, coaching, and talent development for a team of data and backend engineers.
- Technical Delivery: Drive scalable data processing, workflow management, and agile delivery while handling incident escalations and tech debt reduction.
- Architecture & Strategy: Partner with Product Managers to align platform architecture with strategic business goals and regulatory mandates.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of formal Engineering Management experience.
- 10+ years in backend software engineering and large-scale data processing.
- Proven track record leading legacy system migrations or major replatforming projects.
- Solid grasp of cloud fundamentals (AWS) and regulated environments (SOX / GDPR / PII).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
