Senior Engineering Manager - Data & AI - London (Hybrid) - Azure – Databricks - Microsoft Fabric - Power Platform - Up to £115,000

We're partnering with a leading retail organisation that is investing heavily in Data, AI and digital transformation as part of an ambitious long-term technology strategy. With millions of customers and a strong presence across both retail and eCommerce channels, the business is leveraging data at scale to improve customer experiences, optimise operations and drive innovation across the organisation.

You'll work alongside highly capable technical and business leaders in an environment that encourages innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As Senior Engineering Manager, you'll have the autonomy to influence technical direction, shape modern data platforms and build high-performing engineering teams while delivering solutions that have a genuine impact on the business.

You Will Work With

  • Data Engineering, Data Platform, and Power Platform teams operating across multiple locations
  • Senior stakeholders across Technology, Product, Digital, Analytics, eCommerce, and Supply Chain
  • External technology partners and delivery vendors
  • A modern Microsoft technology ecosystem including Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Azure DevOps, and AI-driven solutions

The Role

  • Lead and develop high-performing Data & AI engineering teams
  • Act as a senior technical authority across Azure-based data and analytics platforms
  • Drive the evolution of enterprise-scale data architecture and engineering standards
  • Embed Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and engineering best practices across multiple teams
  • Coach Engineering Leads and senior engineers to build capability and future leadership talent
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to align technology delivery with business objectives
  • Oversee vendor-led delivery, ensuring quality, governance, and value
  • Own platform stability, performance, and operational excellence
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of emerging Data & AI technologies

Key Experience

  • Proven experience leading Data Engineering or Data Platform teams within complex enterprise environments
  • Experience managing large-scale engineering programmes and multi-vendor delivery models
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, governance, and delivery assurance
  • Technical expertise across Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, SharePoint, and Azure DevOps
  • Experience scaling teams and developing engineering capability
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level
  • Collaborative leadership style with a passion for engineering excellence
  • Azure certifications are advantageous
