Are you an experienced Engineering Manager ready to take ownership of an entire engineering function and drive performance across a fast-paced food manufacturing site?

BM Foods, Avonmouth is seeking a proactive and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activities across the site, ensuring the highest standards of safety, reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Reporting directly to the Site Director, you'll play a key role within the senior management team and have a significant impact on site performance and future growth.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing manufacturing business where you'll lead engineering strategy, manage site-wide maintenance activities, drive equipment performance, oversee capital projects, and develop a high-performing engineering team. You'll be responsible for ensuring engineering excellence while working closely with production and operational teams to achieve shared business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all engineering operations across the site.
  • Drive a strong health & safety culture for employees and contractors.
  • Manage and improve planned preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Maximise equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Lead machinery installations and CAPEX projects.
  • Manage contractors, engineering compliance, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Oversee engineering budgets, spare parts, and stock control.
  • Support production teams with technical expertise and problem-solving.
  • Develop, coach, and lead the engineering team.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with BRC, food safety, and company standards.

About You

We're looking for a strong engineering leader who combines technical expertise with excellent people management skills. You'll ideally have:

  • Qualifications to Degree or HND level.
  • Multi-skilled Engineering background with an electrical bias.
  • Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Automation and PLC experience.
  • IOSH certification.
  • Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
  • BRC experience.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving.
