Essential Requirement: Candidates must have demonstrable Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.
The Opportunity
We are working with a growing technology business that is looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop its software engineering function.
This is a senior leadership position for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent people management skills. You will be responsible for building high-performing engineering teams, improving engineering standards and ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable and high-quality software.
Previous Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365BC) experience is essential for this position.
The role is permanent, full-time and remote within the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a team of software engineers.
- Create a high-performance engineering culture focused on quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Product, Architecture and senior technology leadership.
- Help shape technical direction and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Establish and maintain strong software engineering standards and best practices.
- Drive improvements across CI/CD, automated testing and release processes.
- Ensure solutions are designed with security, scalability, resilience and performance in mind.
- Support the delivery of modern cloud-based applications and services.
- Identify technical risks and ensure appropriate solutions are implemented.
- Improve development processes, tooling and engineering efficiency.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management and career development within the engineering team.
- Balance technical excellence with commercial and product priorities.
- Provide technical leadership within a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment.
- Support the development and delivery of Business Central solutions, extensions, integrations and associated applications.

What We're Looking For
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Engineering Manager, Software Engineering Manager, Development Manager, Head of Engineering or similar.
- Proven Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (D365BC) experience – this is essential.
- Experience working within a Business Central development or engineering environment.
- A good understanding of the Business Central platform, architecture, integrations and development environment.
- Experience leading engineering/development teams responsible for Business Central solutions, extensions, integrations or associated applications.
- Strong experience managing and developing software engineering teams.
- A solid technical background in software development and engineering.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and system design.
- Experience working with cloud-native technologies.
- Good understanding of modern web applications, APIs and integration technologies.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Strong understanding of software quality and engineering best practices.
- Knowledge of security, scalability, resilience and application performance.
- Experience working closely with Product Managers, Architects and senior stakeholders.
- Strong coaching, mentoring and people-development skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.

Desirable Experience
Experience within any of the following would be advantageous:
- Microsoft Azure.
- AL development and the wider Microsoft Dynamics technology stack.
- Wider Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience.
- ERP or CRM platforms.
- SaaS / vertical SaaS environments.
- Enterprise software development.
- Previous experience working for a Microsoft Dynamics Partner or consultancy.
The Person
We're looking for someone who is comfortable remaining technically engaged while leading through others. You should be able to challenge technical decisions constructively, develop engineers at different stages of their careers and create an environment where teams can consistently deliver high-quality software.
You will combine strong engineering leadership with a solid understanding of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ecosystem and be comfortable working with technical teams delivering and supporting Business Central-based solutions.
You will be joining a growing organisation where you can have a genuine influence on engineering culture, technical standards and the future direction of the technology function.
