Engineering Manager - Mid Kent
-£65-75K + benefits
Join a growing, privately-owned engineering business, and lead a multidisciplinary engineering function during an exciting period of expansion and innovation.
We have a great opportunity for an Engineering Manager to lead Mechanical, Electronic, Software and Physics/technical teams within an R&D and product development environment. You’ll deliver technically robust, manufacturable and commercially viable solutions across a diverse product and project portfolio, aligning engineering delivery with business objectives, customer requirements and manufacturing capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and resource multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Oversee delivery from concept through manufacture and installation
- Run cross-functional design reviews and technical decision-making
- Ensure designs are safe, compliant, practical and manufacturable
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation actions
- Improve engineering processes, documentation standards and governance
- Contribute to engineering strategy, planning, budgeting and proposals
- Ensure technical qualification of manufactured/installed products

What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or similar
- Significant experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments
- Proven leadership of engineering teams and complex project delivery
- Strong product development lifecycle knowledge
- Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management

Desirable
- ISO9001 design/development experience (or similar)
- Background in instrumentation, precision engineering, or advanced technology
- Systems engineering, engineering change control/configuration management
- Experience transitioning R&D into production
Based on-site in Mid Kent, working full-time, 40 hours per week Monday–Friday. Occasional client travel may be required as part of this role. The company offers a great pension plan, with a performance related bonus structure, company sick pay, life assurance, a good holiday.
