Your Role
As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and steering the NPI technical roadmap. Reporting directly to the VP Engineering Dry Pumps, you will lead the development and execution of a technical roadmap that is closely aligned with our long-term strategic objectives in pump technology. Working collaboratively across engineering and programme teams, you will ensure strong alignment between technical direction and programme delivery, effectively balancing priorities, resources, and milestones to drive technical readiness and business outcomes.
A key aspect of the role will be strengthening engineering capability across the UK GTC by building deep technical expertise and establishing a structured engineering rotation programme. This programme will enhance knowledge sharing, accelerate capability development, and increase technical depth across our global engineering centres in the UK, Cheonan (Korea), and Qingdao (China), supporting our strategic growth ambitions and future technology needs.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams with technical governance and decision-making authority across diverse disciplines including mechanical, electrical, software, motor, and controls systems, ensuring all aspects of pump technology development are cohesively integrated.
- Maintain continuous alignment between the technical roadmap and program pipeline, establishing clear priorities, managing dependencies, and guiding critical decision points to mitigate risk and expedite delivery.
- Translate market and customer requirements, reliability standards, manufacturing considerations, and cost constraints into an actionable and scalable engineering strategy that supports product differentiation and competitive advantage.
- Champion a culture of experimentation and disciplined innovation by encouraging early-stage prototyping, rapid iteration, and data-driven technical decisions aligned to strategic priorities.
- Enhance engineering capabilities across distributed teams through targeted talent development programs and rotational assignments, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in diversity, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Influence product portfolio and program decisions by articulating well-evaluated technical options, analyzing trade-offs, assessing risks, and escalating issues appropriately to senior leadership.
- Promote standardization, modular design, and component reuse across pump platforms to drive improvements in time-to-market, product quality, cost efficiency, serviceability, and sustainability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
