Engineering Manager
Hybrid – London | 2–3 days per week in office
£85,000 – £90,000
Immersum is partnering with a global payments business looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their Banking & FX tribe, managing a team of 6–8 engineers working across payments, FX, ledgers and banking integrations.
This is a people-first leadership role with enough technical depth to challenge decisions, support engineers and own delivery.
The Role:
- Lead and manage a team of 6–8 engineers
- Own delivery, OKRs, forecasting and prioritisation
- Work closely with Product, Design and business stakeholders
- Turn client problems into software that gets shipped and supported
- Set technical direction alongside senior engineers
- Maintain high standards around quality, testing, security and reliability
- Own production services, incidents, on-call and observability
- Drive mentoring, progression, performance and hiring
- Champion pragmatic agile ways of working
- Shape how the team uses AI, including Claude Code

What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience managing and leading software engineers
- Strong C#, Azure and SQL knowledge
- Experience owning business-critical production services
- Understanding of asynchronous/event-driven systems
- Strong product mindset and commercial awareness
- Comfortable making technical decisions and challenging when needed
- Experience working with AI in software development
- Background in a regulated environment
