Engineering Manager

Hybrid – London | 2–3 days per week in office
£85,000 – £90,000

Immersum is partnering with a global payments business looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their Banking & FX tribe, managing a team of 6–8 engineers working across payments, FX, ledgers and banking integrations.

This is a people-first leadership role with enough technical depth to challenge decisions, support engineers and own delivery.

The Role:

  • Lead and manage a team of 6–8 engineers
  • Own delivery, OKRs, forecasting and prioritisation
  • Work closely with Product, Design and business stakeholders
  • Turn client problems into software that gets shipped and supported
  • Set technical direction alongside senior engineers
  • Maintain high standards around quality, testing, security and reliability
  • Own production services, incidents, on-call and observability
  • Drive mentoring, progression, performance and hiring
  • Champion pragmatic agile ways of working
  • Shape how the team uses AI, including Claude Code

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience managing and leading software engineers
  • Strong C#, Azure and SQL knowledge
  • Experience owning business-critical production services
  • Understanding of asynchronous/event-driven systems
  • Strong product mindset and commercial awareness
  • Comfortable making technical decisions and challenging when needed
  • Experience working with AI in software development
  • Background in a regulated environment
