Engineering Manager
We are on the lookout for a dynamic Engineering Manager to join our multi-site team at the Wellingborough site, where we are a spice, herbs and seasoning food manufacturing company with a flour milling facility supplying to both retail consumers and manufacturing companies.
In this role, you will be responsible for setting the engineering strategy for the site and leading engineering activities, ensuring efficient production through maintenance of assets, assured technical capabilities and compliance with regulatory and company requirements. To ensure that the business maintains maximum effectiveness and benefit from existing site technology and in parallel develop concepts and strategies for introducing new manufacturing methods and technologies.
Responsibilities
Management responsibility:
- Agreeing, reviewing, and reporting regularly against key performance indicators.
- Agreeing, reviewing, and operating within an expenditure budget.
- Compliance with and promotion of all employment, environmental, health and safety, data protection, food safety and quality standards and legislation.
- Operate as an effective member of the Operations leadership team to help push the boundaries of business performance.
- Drive continuous improvement through direct areas of responsibility and influence positive business change.

Specific responsibilities to include, but not be limited to:
Plant & Machinery Maintenance:
- Maintain and improve a plant & machinery asset maintenance management process.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities.
- Lead the effective utilisation of MaintainX, the site's CMMS platform, to ensure timely completion of PPM schedules and prompt closure of all associated follow-up actions.
- Develop and manage the maintenance expenditure budgets for the business to achieve targets.
- Co-ordinate with production and other relevant departments on the action of breakdown and planned maintenance schedules.
- Ensure that all equipment and processes are working to optimum efficiency.
- Perform all required task audits in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure availability of systems to manage inventory, minimize working capital and control purchasing.
- Develop, maintain and audit safe systems of work.
- Manage, lead and develop the Engineering team.

Site Facilities:
- To take responsibility for the maintenance of all sites' infrastructure and facilities building a rolling plan of activity and expenditure.
- To ensure the functionality, comfort, safety and efficiency of the building environment at both sites.
- To develop, control and audit effective physical site security systems to prevent intruders.
Health & Safety:
- To implement and manage a system of auditing working practices to improve safety performance and standards in relation to the Maintenance department.
- To ensure that the site's fire safety systems are periodically tested and challenged; this is inclusive of the annual fire risk assessment of plant and the conducting of fire drills twice a year.
- To ensure all other safety procedures within the Maintenance department such as ladder inspection, pressure vessels and hard wiring audits are maintained.
