Engineering Manager – Aberdeen
Subsea Pressure Controls (SPC) is looking for an experienced engineer to join our team in Aberdeen as Engineering Manager. This opportunity would suit either an established Engineering Manager or an experienced engineer looking to take the next step into a management role.
This is a hands-on engineering and management role working across subsea wellhead equipment, wellhead connectors, retrieval tooling and bespoke equipment for offshore decommissioning projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for engineering projects throughout the full lifecycle, from understanding a client's technical requirements and developing an engineering solution through design, manufacture, testing, certification, mobilization, and deployment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review client enquiries and decommissioning scopes to determine technical and equipment requirements.
- Lead the design and development of subsea equipment, wellhead retrieval tooling, wellhead connectors, and bespoke client solutions.
- Produce and review 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and design documentation.
- Undertake and review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and design verification.
- Manage projects through procurement, manufacture, assembly, inspection, testing, and mobilization.
- Support project costing, scheduling, procurement requirements, and technical quotations.
- Oversee the technical integrity, inspection, maintenance, and certification of SPC's subsea equipment fleet.
- Coordinate FAT/SIT, function testing, pressure and load testing, NDT, and third-party verification where required.
- Provide technical support to workshop personnel and manage engineering/workshop priorities and resources.
- Lead and support the development of engineering and workshop personnel.
- Liaise directly with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and third-party inspection bodies.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable client requirements and relevant API, DNV, and ISO standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
