Engineering Manager
Working for an industry leading, high-growth SaaS business with some of the biggest brand names in the world as customers, the Engineering Manager will act as a player-coach, splitting their time between managing a team of 6 Engineers and hands-on coding.
Responsibilities
- Setting the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the team, in line with wider engineering and product goals
- Leading, coaching, and growing a top-tier team of engineers, ranging from Staff level to 'Mid'
- Leading design reviews and driving consistent API and architecture standards across teams and services
- Working closely with counterparts in product management, balancing feasibility, priorities, and strategy
- Anticipating and resolving complex issues that cross team boundaries
- Helping to spot gaps in the team, develop people, and hiring the skills/people needed to progress
- Staying hands-on with coding, complex technical challenges, and architecture

Requirements
- Managed other engineers
- Strong hands-on experience with Java or Scala
- Experience with a cloud platform, e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Experience with REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, and ideally Apache Spark
- Great communication skills and stakeholder management

Location: London / hybrid (2 days in office)
Salary: £120k + bonus + stock + benefits
