This person will effectively manage all engineering and maintenance functions on site including but not limited to planned preventative maintenance, testing and repairs covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems and buildings associated with the running of a large blown film extrusion manufacturing site.
Reporting directly to:
Plant General Manager
Close working relationships with:
Production Manager, Quality Manager, Engineering Facilities and Projects Manager, Warehouse & Logistics Manager etc.

Responsibilities
- To manage all shift and day engineers and engineering activities.
- To work to and promote a positive H&S culture.
- To effectively manage the PPM schedule on site, covering all Extrusion related equipment.
- To plan and execute daily preventative maintenance activities.
- To assist with fault finding and diagnostics in reactive breakdown or planned situations.
- Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained.
- Support project development
- Fully engage with the operations team to provide proactive support to the plant and equipment, maximising production output.
- Practice continuous improvement and pro-activeness for improved ways of working offering possible solutions.
- Organise the team and respond promptly to any unplanned maintenance issues or repairs to ensure minimum down time.
- Demonstrate tenacity in approach to incident management and actively pursue investigations to identify root causes.
- Understand importance of preventative maintenance schedules and prioritise activities to efficiently use resources.
- Use initiative and confidently make sound decisions quickly based on knowledge, experience and best practice.
- Effectively involve specialists to resolve complex issues.
- Understand the importance of accurate and clear written records, maintaining documentation to a high standard.
- Stand in for the Engineering Facilities and Projects Manager during holidays etc.
Skills & Experience
- Flexible, highly motivated and driven with the ability to prioritise own workload, possess strong intellect, good logical fault-finding analysis capabilities and who can demonstrate the ability to make decisions and empower people to drive actions forward. Results orientated, with ability to deliver results in a rapidly changing environment. Excellent attention to detail.
- Will have a time served apprenticeship (or equivalent) and have a recognised qualification in a related discipline (or equivalent)
- Possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be a confident team player.
- Experience of working in a production maintenance environment is essential for this role.
- Proactive and dynamic approach to health, safety and environmental situations.
- Be ambitious, driven and tenacious with a hunger to succeed and deliver results.

Proactive and a positive “can do” attitude
Qualifications
- Proven track record in production engineering.
- Experience using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
- Excellent IT skills are essential.
This list is not exclusive and there will be occasional tasks that need completing upon discussion with the Plant General Manager.
The role will be day based, Monday – Friday 08:45 to 17:00 with 45 mins unpaid total breaks. Holiday entitlement is 25 days pa (keeping some for Christmas and the summer shutdown if applicable) + statutory holidays + long service days. Salary details will be discussed with the applicant(s).
