Role: MEICA Manager – Water & Wastewater Treatment (Permanent)

Location: Leiston, Suffolk

Salary: £75,000 - £85,000 (DOE)

The role:

Unify are excited to be working with a leading UK infrastructure and utilities contractor looking to appoint an experienced MEICA Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation systems across a major wastewater treatment programme. You’ll oversee MEICA activities from design, procurement and installation through to testing, commissioning and handover, working closely with engineering consultants, specialist suppliers and delivery teams. This is a long-term, permanent opportunity for a senior MEICA professional with strong water-sector experience, proven leadership skills and a track record delivering complex treatment-plant projects within a highly regulated, nuclear-associated environment.

About you:

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership

Experience

  • 10+ years delivering MEICA packages specifically within water and wastewater treatment
  • Strong background in process plant installation, treatment‑plant upgrades or new‑build facilities
  • Proven track record managing MEICA works from design through commissioning

Technical & Leadership Skills

  • Deep understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes, equipment and control systems
  • Experience with SCADA, PLCs, automation, telemetry and process instrumentation
  • Strong contractor, supplier and multidisciplinary team leadership
  • Commercial awareness including procurement support, cost forecasting and change management

Desirable

  • Experience in nuclear, major infrastructure or other highly regulated environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead MEICA design, construction and commissioning activities for multiple wastewater treatment plants
  • Manage engineering consultants, specialist MEICA contractors, equipment suppliers and commissioning teams
  • Provide technical assurance across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and automation systems
  • Oversee installation of pumps, pipework, valves, tanks, blowers, dosing systems, process equipment and electrical infrastructure
  • Coordinate PLC, SCADA, telemetry and control system integration for water/wastewater processes
  • Lead testing, commissioning, performance proving and operational readiness
  • Monitor programme, cost, quality and contractor performance
  • Ensure compliance with project, regulatory, water‑industry and nuclear‑sector requirements
