Engineering Manager – Deli Lites

Newry, Warrenpoint, Northern Ireland

Competitive Salary + Package Including Relocation Support

About the Role

Build an engineering function that's ready for the next stage of growth.

We are excited to be partnering with Deli Lites, an award-winning, family-owned food manufacturer supplying major retail, convenience, travel and foodservice customers across the UK, Ireland and internationally, with an exciting opportunity for you to lead their engineering function.

You’ve probably come across engineering functions and thought there was a better way of doing things but not had the autonomy to do it. Deli Lites gives you the opportunity to put those ideas into practice.

Deli Lites has grown to around £40m turnover and has clear plans to reach £100m by 2030 through organic growth, continued investment and acquisitions.

As they grow, they’re looking for someone who can put the right engineering structure in place to support it.

You’ll take on a team of multi-skilled engineers. Your first job will be to review the engineering structure outlining the future requirements, devising a strategy to support the engineering function to transition from reactive to proactive.

You won’t be walking into a finished model, you’ll have the freedom to build one that works.

You’ll play a key role in modernising the site, building on a recently completed £750,000 investment and newly commissioned automation. With new systems already highlighting opportunities to reduce downtime and improve performance, you’ll use better data and smart technology to help shape the site’s journey towards Industry 4.0.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll also help shape future capital investment, influencing equipment selection and ensuring engineering decisions support the long-term direction of the business.

The successful candidate will have proven leadership skills to support the current team members transition into the new way of working.

The Business

Deli Lites started as a family business and remains one today. Built around a vision of “reimagining food on the move”, it has grown into an award-winning global food producer creating sandwiches, wraps, salads, toasties, burritos, traybakes, pastries and bars across its chilled, frozen and bakery facilities in Warrenpoint.

Its products are enjoyed across the UK, Ireland and international markets through leading retailers, convenience operators, foodservice businesses and travel-sector customers.

They have a clear ambition for growth which means decisions get made quickly, and you'll have real input into how that growth happens on the ground.

Here's What You'll Need

  • You've led engineering teams in food manufacturing or a similar production environment, and know what good looks like
  • You've helped move a site from reactive to proactive, whether that's introducing planned maintenance, reducing downtime, or getting a better grip on budgets
  • If you've built a structure from the ground up, or worked with Lean, automation or smart technology, that'll help you hit the ground running, though it's not essential
  • Food manufacturing background is ideal, but if you've come from beverage, pharmaceutical or another relevant manufacturing environment, we'd still love to hear from you
  • Above all, you enjoy improving how engineering works, developing people, and building something that lasts
