Are you looking for a long-term perspective in a successfully growing, profitable company? Then you've come to the right place!

CARBOLITE GERO makes a significant contribution to technological progress: we are a leading international manufacturer of innovative and reliable high-temperature furnaces and ovens as they are indispensable for production and research facilities as well as quality and analytical laboratories.

As part of Verder Scientific, we belong to the German-Dutch technology group Verder, a group of companies with over 2500 employees around the globe. We believe that our journey is far from complete. We're looking for innovators and critical thinkers who are eager to challenge the status quo, are willing to contribute new ideas and take over responsibility. If you are passionate about your work and are looking for a position where you can make a tangible impact, we want you on our team.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager Bespoke Products to join our team in the beautiful Peak District National Park. As an integral part of the Engineering team, you will manage and oversee all functions of customer specific developments, define the design and oversee the project management of bespoke products. We design and manufacture our own products on site and take great pride in supporting the needs of our clients on a global basis.

Responsibilities & What To Expect

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of custom furnace projects (L3/L4) — from concept and design through manufacture, testing and commissioning — ensuring every product is fit for purpose, fully functional, cost-effective, and high quality.
  • Provide hands-on project management across concurrent custom builds, proactively identifying and mitigating technical, financial and schedule-related risks to keep projects on track.
  • Mentor, guide and lead Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and Project Managers, supporting their continuous professional development.
  • Act as a senior technical point of contact for a global customer base across academia and industry, translating complex, bespoke requirements into robust, innovative engineering solutions.
  • Role-model innovation and engineering excellence, driving improvements that keep customer needs at the heart of all Engineering processes and services.
  • Hold the Engineering teams accountable for designs and products that meet the highest quality and reliability standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement of Engineering procedures and practices, ensuring an efficient, coherent and collaborative approach that meets and exceeds customer expectations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
