At Verda, we're building a full-stack AI cloud, covering everything from data centers and hardware to our own cloud platform that the world's leading AI teams use to do serious AI work.

We strive to make a positive mark on the world through the infrastructure we build and give leading teams a service they can truly depend on. Headquartered in Helsinki, we operate globally with offices in London and San Francisco.

Join Verda while it's still being built - not once it's finished.

About the Role

As Engineering Manager for our Cloud engineering team, you build the structure a growing team needs: how people work together, how priorities get decided, and how delivery gets coordinated. You take on the people and organisational work so engineers can focus on building and the Tech Lead can focus on technical direction, rather than carrying meetings, administration, and coordination themselves.

You work closely with Product, who own product decisions, and the Tech Lead, who owns technical decisions. You own people leadership, career development, and how the team works, and the three of you agree priorities together, weighing product goals, technical constraints, and the team's capacity.

Your Responsibilities

  • Establish team structure, ownership, and ways of working that let the team operate without depending on you for every decision.
  • Build planning and coordination practices that support delivery without adding unnecessary process.
  • Remove administrative and organisational work that distracts engineers from building.
  • Own people leadership: expectations, feedback, one-to-ones, career growth, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Coordinate delivery and dependencies, keeping priorities, commitments, and risks visible.
  • Agree priorities with Product and the Tech Lead, weighing product needs, technical constraints, and team capacity.
  • Improve the system when delivery or coordination problems repeat, rather than managing around them permanently.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your Key Competencies

  • Evidence of managing engineers through clear expectations, regular feedback, development, and fair performance management.
  • Experience building or improving a team's operating system, not just coordinating its meetings.
  • Strong delivery judgement: creating focus, surfacing trade-offs, managing dependencies, and acting on risk early.
  • Enough technical background to understand the team's work, challenge assumptions, and coach judgement without taking over technical ownership.
  • Experience hiring and onboarding engineers while balancing delivery needs with longer-term capability.
  • Strong collaboration with Product and technical leadership, with clear ownership boundaries.
  • Ability to operate calmly and directly in a fast-growing, ambiguous environment.
  • High standards for fairness, psychological safety, accountability, and sustainable performance.
