Engineering Manager - Data
The hourly rate is £102 Inside IR35 Umbrella - £765 Inside IR35 per day, 6 months contract – 37.5 hours per week – 2 days per week in the Manchester office for meetings

As an Engineering Manager - Data, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data infrastructure, guiding high-performing teams, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions. What You'll Do
- Lead and inspire a diverse team of engineers responsible for building and evolving our integration platform with SAP S/4HANA during a major migration from legacy systems.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Architecture, Security, and Compliance teams to align platform development with strategic objectives and regulatory standards such as SOX and GDPR.
- Drive architectural decisions, ensuring technical credibility and fostering a culture of innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Oversee large-scale data processing, workflow management, and system modernisation efforts, embedding agile practices and quality standards.
- Partner with stakeholders to shape roadmaps, operational plans, and technological advancements that propel our data capabilities forward.

Required Skills
- 2+ years of formal engineering management experience leading teams in data or software engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant backend development experience, with deep expertise in data processing and platform architecture.
- Proven success in modernising legacy systems and managing large replatforming projects.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to navigate complex people and technical issues.
- Experience with cloud technologies, especially AWS, and an understanding of highly regulated environments such as SOX and GDPR.

Nice to Have Skills
- Experience working with SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP systems.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks in cloud environments.
- Certifications related to cloud computing or data management.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in backend data engineering and system architecture.

- Ability to travel occasionally for team collaboration or stakeholder meetings.
