Policy & Standards Engineer

🚀 Exciting opportunity to join a newly established Policy & Standards Team within the Design Authority function! You'll play a key role in developing and maintaining the engineering governance framework that supports safe, compliant, and effective project delivery across a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Engineering Management Arrangements
  • Produce and update Engineering Policies, Standards and Guidance
  • Support the delivery of Technical Assurance Frameworks
  • Contribute to Engineering Substantiation Processes
  • Develop and maintain Design Acceptance Procedures
  • Manage Configuration Control Arrangements
  • Support Change Control Processes
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Management Arrangements
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering governance and best practice
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering and assurance functions

What You'll Be Doing

  • Creating and maintaining engineering policies and standards
  • Supporting robust engineering governance and assurance activities
  • Developing processes that underpin design authority responsibilities
  • Ensuring consistency, compliance and quality across engineering activities
  • Providing guidance to support effective engineering decision-making

Qualifications

Who We're Looking For

⚛️ Nuclear industry experience is essential

We're seeking an experienced engineering professional with a background in engineering management, governance and technical assurance rather than detailed design engineering.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Strong understanding of engineering governance and assurance within regulated environments
  • Experience developing:
    • Engineering Management Plans
    • Engineering Arrangements
    • Policies & Standards
    • Governance Documentation
  • Ability to translate technical and regulatory requirements into clear, practical guidance
  • Knowledge of configuration management and change control
  • Comfortable acting as an intelligent customer and providing engineering oversight
