Engineering Manager - FMCG!

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Up to £65,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

Hours: Monday to Friday – Flexible

About the Role:

A market-leading FMCG manufacturer is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineering Manager to take a key leadership role within its high-performing operations team. You’ll oversee engineering and maintenance activities across a major production area, driving performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across your function.

This is a high-impact position offering visibility, influence, and the opportunity to shape the future of engineering performance on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead maintenance operations across a key section of the site, managing a team of approximately 20 engineers and apprentices.
  • Work closely with Shift Managers and technical teams to ensure efficient, proactive maintenance and minimal downtime.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for breakdowns, emergencies, and improvement projects.
  • Drive engagement through effective coaching, training, and development of your team.
  • Manage performance, including holidays, reviews, and disciplinaries.
  • Deliver engineering and continuous improvement projects, acting as the link between production and maintenance.
  • Promote asset management best practices and support the long-term engineering strategy.

  • Strong technical background – ideally multi-skilled.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience within manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident balancing hands-on technical work with strategic planning.
  • Results-driven leader with a passion for performance and continuous improvement.
