THE ROLE AND THE TEAM

As an Engineering Manager for a core product area, you will lead a team of 5-8 engineers, building resilient backend services and high-throughput integrations at scale. With technical autonomy, you’ll solve complex engineering challenges and enhance our platform ecosystem. If you are driven by scalable systems, modern engineering practices, and people leadership, this is where you’ll make a real impact.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing software engineering team. You are dedicated to team success and sustainable delivery, technical quality, and the overall health and psychological safety of your team.
  • Hands-on Contribution: Actively contribute to technical design and implementation (~40% hands-on) to support your engineers in applying sound practices and to keep delivery speeds high.
  • Product Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Management to translate customer needs and strategic objectives into clear, actionable delivery plans that maximise business impact.
  • Execution & Support: Collaborate to resolve technical and interpersonal challenges early. Break down complex problems into logical steps, enabling inclusive, pragmatic decisions within the team to maintain progress.
  • Community & Culture: Contribute to the wider Tradebyte engineering culture by actively participating in Communities of Practice, sharing post-mortem findings, and fostering knowledge exchange across teams.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
