Engineering Manager – Building Services

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to take responsibility for the technical and engineering performance of a prestigious, high-profile commercial property.

The role will lead the day-to-day delivery of building engineering services, ensuring the property operates safely, efficiently and to consistently high standards. You will have responsibility for mechanical and electrical services, statutory compliance, planned and reactive maintenance, contractor performance and technical improvements.

This is a highly visible position, working closely with property management, occupiers, service partners and senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent leadership, commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach.

  • Take overall responsibility for the engineering operation and technical performance of the building.
  • Lead and manage the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance across all M&E and building services systems.
  • Provide technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, BMS, life-safety and associated building systems.
  • Ensure all statutory inspections, testing and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, compliance and engineering risk management.
  • Manage and develop engineering teams and specialist service partners.
  • Oversee M&E contractors and suppliers, ensuring performance against agreed SLAs, KPIs and service standards.
  • Monitor contractor quality, technical standards, documentation and safe systems of work.
  • Review maintenance strategies and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and asset performance.
  • Support lifecycle replacement, refurbishment and capital improvement projects from a technical perspective.
  • Assist with energy efficiency, sustainability and carbon-reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, asset registers, O&M information and compliance documentation.
  • Support operational budgets, procurement, quotations and supplier negotiations.
  • Investigate recurring faults and implement effective root-cause solutions.
  • Provide technical support during occupier fit-outs, alterations and project works.
  • Build strong working relationships with occupiers, property management teams and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure engineering operations minimise disruption to customers and the wider building environment.
  • Participate in emergency response, business continuity and out-of-hours arrangements where required.
