Altrad Engineering Manager Role

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join the team.

As an Engineering Manager, accountable for the delivery, governance and performance of an assigned engineering area or function. Lead multi-disciplinary teams and support the development, maintenance and improvement of plant, equipment, systems and infrastructure in line with approved requirements, standards, legislation and safety arrangements.

Key Deliverables

  • Own the engineering delivery plan and performance of the assigned area or facility, managing priorities, deliverables, interfaces, resources, dependencies, risks and decision points across the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and coordinate engineering support to assigned systems and projects, ensuring work scopes, requirements and engineering inputs are integrated and traceable from user need through design, implementation, verification and acceptance.
  • Apply proportionate technical governance and assurance in accordance with the project Engineering Management Plan, relevant design processes and delegated authority.
  • Lead the oversight and assurance of consultant, Technical Service Provider, contractor and original equipment manufacturer engineering activities and deliverables.
  • Plan, coordinate and chair engineering meetings, optioneering activities, design reviews and technical reviews, ensuring actions, decisions and comment resolution are recorded and closed.
  • Provide direction and support to Lead Project Engineers, Requirements Engineers and discipline engineers, ensuring clear responsibilities, appropriate behaviours and effective engineering delivery.
  • Assess engineering workload, competence and resource needs, supporting recruitment, mobilisation, competency assessment, mentoring and career development.
  • Deputise for the Head of Engineering and other Engineering Managers when required and within delegated authority.
  • Support submissions to safety committees and authorisation groups, including Design Changes, site permissioning and implementation or commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, standards, nuclear industry expectations, site Authorised Conditions, Safety Management Arrangements and Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality requirements.

Essential Key Requirements / Qualifications:

  • Qualification to degree level, or equivalent recognised qualification, in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or demonstrable ability and commitment to attain chartered status through continued professional development.
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering delivery in a complex, high-hazard or highly regulated environment.
  • Experience of technical governance, design assurance and review or acceptance of engineering deliverables.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage priorities, resources, interfaces, technical risk and engineering performance.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, written communication, meeting chairing and decision-making skills.

Desirable

  • Engineering management on defence infrastructure and nuclear safety implicated assets.
  • Technical assurance across design, site implementation, integration, testing, commissioning and handover.
  • Requirements management, optioneering, design reviews, technical change, configuration management and maintenance of an auditable engineering record.
  • Applying relevant legislation and standards, including CDM Regulations and equipment-specific regulations where applicable.
  • Supervision, mentoring, competency assessment and development of engineering personnel.
  • NEC4 contracts and collaborative working with commercial and project controls functions.
  • BIM/CAD and Common Data Environment or controlled engineering information arrangements.
  • Good attention to detail and excellent organisational and verbal and written communication skills.
