We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to join the team based in Birchwood Park, Warrington.
About the Role
We are looking for a Control Systems Engineering Manager (EM) with a strong control systems background and experience working in complex engineering environments. This is a hands-on engineering leadership role for someone who wants to move beyond individual technical delivery and take greater ownership of engineering scope, technical direction, people, assurance and delivery. Typically suited to an engineer with 7+ years’ experience, the role provides the opportunity to broaden your technical and leadership experience across multiple projects, platforms and stages of the engineering lifecycle. You will lead and coordinate engineering activities from early definition and design through to build, integration, testing, commissioning and handover, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering, project, safety, commercial, construction and operational teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
