Engineering Manager

Pearson Carter are currently working with an MS Partner that is investing heavily in its in-house technology team. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Manager to lead their development teams and help shape the future of their technology platforms.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business where technology plays a key role in its future. You'll combine engineering leadership, software architecture and people management, working closely with product and technical leadership to build high-performing teams and ensure platforms are secure, scalable, resilient and commercially aligned.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and mentor software engineers across multiple product areas.
  • Build a high-performing engineering team and create a culture of quality, ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding and career development of engineers.
  • Work closely with technical leadership to define and maintain target architecture for digital platforms.
  • Establish architectural principles, design standards and technical guardrails.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable and aligned with business objectives.
  • Guide major technical decisions and architectural reviews.
  • Work closely with Product Management to translate roadmap priorities into deliverable outcomes.
  • Improve engineering predictability, planning accuracy and release confidence.
  • Drive improvements across CI/CD, automated testing, observability and operational resilience.
  • Ensure technical debt, platform investment and non-functional requirements are managed appropriately alongside feature delivery.
  • Champion secure software development practices and support compliance, security and governance requirements.
  • Lead technical responses to incidents, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Partner with Product, Delivery, Support and Professional Services teams.
  • Provide technical input into strategic initiatives and customer engagements.
  • Help the wider organisation make informed technology decisions through clear communication and pragmatic leadership.

Experience

  • Proven experience leading and managing software engineering teams within a modern product organisation.
  • Excellent experience across C#/.NET development experience.
  • Strong experience with software architecture and system design.
  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud-native application development.
  • Experience working with modern web and API-based platforms at scale.
  • Strong understanding of security, performance, resilience and operational best practices.
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring and people leadership skills.
  • Experience working closely with Product Managers and business stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience establishing engineering standards, best practices and delivery processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to technical decision-making.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted software development practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics technologies and business applications.
  • Experience working within ERP, CRM, hospitality, leisure, property or vertical SaaS markets.
  • Experience with Azure-hosted applications and services.
  • Knowledge of mobile applications and customer-facing digital products.
  • Experience introducing architecture governance and engineering standards.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

Salary

Salary is dependent on experience but is looking to pay between £70,000 - £90,000.

Location

This role is fully remote and can be based anywhere in the UK. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
