About the Company

We are supporting a confidential search for an established FinTech with a small team

Based in London with 1/2 days per week in office

About the Role

They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and enable a growing engineering team of around 10-15 engineers (FE, BE and Mobile). This is a delivery and people focused leadership role for someone who can bring greater clarity, structure and momentum to engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support and develop a team of approximately 10-15 engineers.
  • Improve delivery, prioritisation and collaboration across Engineering and Product.
  • Translate product and business priorities into clear, achievable engineering plans.
  • Remove blockers and establish the structure the team needs to deliver consistently.
  • Empower engineers to own technical decisions while providing appropriate challenge and direction.
  • Balance technical considerations with customer, product and commercial outcomes.
  • Support the team through its next phase of development and organisational growth.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing and developing software engineering teams.

Required Skills

  • Strong technical credibility, without needing to be a deeply hands-on architect or coding-focused manager.
  • A track record of improving engineering delivery and establishing clear priorities.
  • Strong collaboration with Product and other business stakeholders.
  • A supportive, empowering leadership style rather than a highly directive approach.
  • Good commercial and product awareness.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience within fintech, ideally consumer fintech.
  • Direct lending experience would be particularly valuable, although it is not essential.
  • Experience with KYC, regulated products or broader financial services environments would also be relevant.
