We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of one of the UK's most significant nuclear infrastructure programmes. This is an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in a high-profile, complex project environment, contributing to the successful delivery of critical national infrastructure.
Working within a long-term programme of work, you will lead the engineering delivery of complex technical packages from early contractor involvement and pre-construction activities through to construction, commissioning, and operational handover. You will provide technical leadership, assurance, and governance, ensuring engineering solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role offers the chance to develop and strengthen engineering capability while working alongside industry-leading professionals in a highly regulated and technically challenging environment.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering delivery of complex technical scopes throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and assurance across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.
- Drive technical excellence and maintain engineering standards throughout project delivery.
- Manage the coordination and integration of engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA), MEP services, and process plant systems.
- Support the development and implementation of engineering strategies, processes, and best practices.
- Oversee design reviews, technical assurance activities, and approval processes.
- Collaborate closely with project, commercial, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure successful programme delivery.
- Monitor and manage engineering performance against project cost, schedule, quality, and risk objectives.
- Support stakeholder engagement with clients, contractors, regulators, and supply chain partners.
- Contribute to the growth and continuous improvement of engineering capability across the business.
- Ensure engineering solutions support successful commissioning, operational readiness, and handover requirements.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline.
- Professional membership of a recognised engineering institution, such as IMechE or equivalent.
- Experience delivering engineering solutions within complex, major project environments.
- Experience working in highly regulated industries, such as nuclear, defence, energy, utilities, pharmaceuticals, or similar sectors.
- Strong understanding of technical governance, engineering assurance, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of process plant and equipment, building services, MEP, and MEICA systems.
- Experience supporting projects through design, construction, commissioning, and operational handover.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results within challenging programme environments.
Desirable
- Experience working on large-scale nuclear or defence infrastructure programmes.
- Knowledge of relevant UK engineering and regulatory standards.
- Experience within Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and collaborative project delivery models.
- Chartered Engineer status or progression towards chartership.
