About the Role

Intermedia is looking for a Manager, Software Development to join our engineering team.

In this role, you will lead a team of software engineers responsible for building the services and capabilities that transform product, customer, and generated data into meaningful, actionable insights. You will be accountable for the team's people, execution, engineering quality, and delivery while partnering closely with Product, AI/ML, Data, DevOps, and other engineering teams.

You will help translate our strategy into an executable engineering roadmap, create an environment where engineers can do their best work, and ensure the team delivers secure, scalable, reliable solutions that create measurable value for our customers and business. This role is ideal for an engineering leader who combines strong software development experience with effective people leadership and is excited about building teams and products in a rapidly evolving AI environment.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead and develop a team of software engineers.
  • Own the team's execution across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing production support.
  • Partner with Product, AI/ML, Data, and business stakeholders to translate product strategy and customer needs into clear engineering priorities and deliverables.
  • Work with technical leaders and engineers to establish sound architecture and engineering approaches for scalable backend services, APIs and data processing.
  • Drive predictable delivery by establishing clear priorities, managing dependencies, identifying risks, and removing obstacles that impact team execution.
  • Ensure solutions meet appropriate standards for quality, scalability, reliability, performance, security, observability, and maintainability.
  • Establish and reinforce strong software engineering practices, including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, documentation, monitoring, and production readiness.
  • Foster effective collaboration between software engineers, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, product managers, and other technical teams.
  • Ensure that our services are integrated effectively into production products and customer experiences.
  • Monitor team and system performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive continuous improvement in engineering effectiveness and operational reliability.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for team members and provide regular coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Support the professional development and career growth of engineers through ongoing coaching, development planning, and meaningful opportunities to expand their skills.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
  • Build an inclusive, accountable team culture that encourages ownership, collaboration, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Help the team navigate ambiguity and rapidly evolving technologies while maintaining disciplined engineering and delivery practices.
  • Stay current with emerging developments in AI, analytics, data platforms, and software engineering and help determine where new technologies can meaningfully improve Intermedia's products or engineering practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
