An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager or Senior Engineer to join a well-established and growing housebuilder with an impressive pipeline of residential developments across Yorkshire.

We're looking to speak with candidates from a Main Contractor, Civil Engineering Contractor, Civil Engineering Consultancy or Housebuilder, who have strong residential new build experience and are looking to play a key role within an expanding Technical team.

This is an excellent opportunity to influence projects from land acquisition through to construction, while helping shape the future of the engineering function as the business continues to grow.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you'll take the lead on all civil engineering aspects of residential developments, working closely with the Land, Technical and Commercial teams to deliver practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.

You'll review engineering designs, coordinate external consultants and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the civil engineering design and delivery of residential housing developments.
  • Support land acquisition by reviewing engineering constraints, technical reports and site investigations.
  • Assess the engineering viability of new development opportunities.
  • Coordinate and review engineering designs including:
    • Drainage (S104/S106)
    • Highways (S38/S278)
    • Earthworks and site levels
    • Retaining structures
    • Utilities and external infrastructure
  • Manage and challenge external engineering consultants to ensure high-quality, cost-effective design solutions.
  • Work closely with internal departments to resolve engineering issues throughout planning, design and construction.
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
  • Drive engineering standards and best practice across the business.
  • Support the growth of the engineering team, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to future recruitment.

About You

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Experience within a Main Contractor, Civil Engineering Consultancy, Civil Engineering Contractor or Housebuilder.
  • Proven experience delivering residential new build developments.
  • A strong civil engineering background with the ability to review and coordinate engineering designs.
  • Knowledge of residential infrastructure, including drainage, highways, earthworks, retaining structures and statutory agreements.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D or Site3D (preferred).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
