Engineering Manager (Weekends)

Location: Carlisle
Working Hours: 06:00-18:00, Friday-Sunday

The Role

As an engineering manager, you'll take ownership of engineering performance across your shift - leading, supporting, and developing a team of skilled engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Managing shift handovers, ensuring clear communication of priorities and actions.
  • Attending and contributing to daily operational meetings.
  • Overseeing breakdown response, prioritising engineering resources effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Driving preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and performance.
  • Leading and motivating your team - balancing people management (around 90% of the role) with hands-on technical support when required.

  • Proven experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills - able to coach, motivate and develop your team.
  • Solid understanding of maintenance systems, reliability, and engineering processes.
  • A proactive problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic production setting.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of collaborating across departments and influencing outcomes.
