The purpose of Engineering Manager role
To provide a safe, efficient and reliable manufacturing facility through leadership of the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing leadership to the engineering team (i.e.: coaching, mentoring, training)
- Develop and implement strategies that accelerate and improve current maintenance practices and processes
- Analyse operational data and equipment performance history to deliver improvements in OEE and critical maintenance related metrics including: unplanned downtime, PM compliance, schedule compliance, Mean-Time-Between-Failures, and maintenance related costs.
- Create and lead the vision of TPM implementation
- Change maintenance practices to that of a proactive approach with a focus on predictive and condition based processes in place of standard PPM activities.
- Coordination and actioning of “Root cause” activities in problem solving and process improvement
- Responsibility for cost centre: budgets management, labour, repair, maintenance, capital costs.
- Identify training needs and skill gaps and implement suitable schemes to bridge gaps.
- Establish a supporting role in Continuous Improvement projects and lead the related projects based on Lean and TPM methodology.
- Communicate effectively with both Production and Quality on the suitability of equipment design and its layout suitability.
- Identify and execute site level capital projects and support business wide strategic capital projects
- Manage store third party suppliers and OEM suppliers as well.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Degree or equivalent in an Engineering or technical discipline
- Safety qualification with expertise in permits, guarding, isolation (NEBOSH/IOSH etc)
- At least 5 years’ experience of Reliability Engineering in a FMCG manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record in delivering improvements and achieving challenging goals.
- Experience in TPM (predictive and condition based maintenance systems) implementation and executing capital projects.
- Able to demonstrate leadership within a change management programme or environment (i. e., Performance Management, Absence Management, Investigations/Disciplinary Processes).
- Practical knowledge of lean tools implementation
- Knowledge of Regulations and Compliance - PUWER, LOLER, DSEAR, PSSR, FET etc.
