The role

As an Engineering Operations Support Specialist, you'll play a vital role in keeping Engineering teams running efficiently. Supporting Engineering Business Operations, you'll ensure the accuracy of operational data, documentation, and reporting, while helping to streamline processes through automation and effective coordination. Working closely with leaders and stakeholders, you'll provide essential operational and administrative support that enables smarter decision-making and the successful delivery of key business activities.

Please note that this role can be based in either Southampton or Paddington with an expectation of four days per month in the office.

What's the job?

  • Drive Data Quality & Insights – Maintain accurate Engineering data, improve data integrity through regular reviews and clean-up activities, and leverage AI to enhance reporting, accuracy, and decision-making.
  • Deliver Process Automation & Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to streamline processes, gather business requirements, and implement AI-driven and automated solutions that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency.
  • Partner with Engineering Stakeholders – Collaborate with Engineering leaders, managers, and business stakeholders to coordinate activities, gather requirements, and deliver practical solutions that support business objectives.
  • Support Operational Excellence – Provide day-to-day support across key Engineering processes, including OKRs, performance reviews, promotions, onboarding, licensing, vendor management, purchase orders, and system updates.
  • Manage Documentation & Governance – Create and maintain high-quality documentation, playbooks, user guides, and SharePoint content, ensuring information remains accurate, accessible, and aligned with policies and standards.
  • Provide Technical & Administrative Support – Assist with troubleshooting operational and technical issues, support tool adoption, and ensure teams can work effectively and efficiently.
  • Enhance Employee Engagement & Recognition – Coordinate recognition programmes, administer the Kudos platform, and support the successful delivery of Engineering events, town halls, and key team forums.
  • Foster Collaboration & Capability Building – Work closely across Engineering Business Management to share knowledge, promote cross-training, and reduce operational dependencies through effective knowledge transfer.
  • Develop Reporting & Analytical Capabilities – Stay current with emerging technologies, including AI and Microsoft Power Platform, and contribute to enhanced reporting, analytics, and business insights.
  • Coordinate Business Operations & Events – Support the planning and execution of Engineering events and provide broader administrative assistance to ensure the smooth running of Engineering Business Operations.

What you'll bring

Essential

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong technology skills, with the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
  • Process improvement

  • Familiarity with data analysis and BI tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders at different levels of the organisation.

Desirable

  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Experience in administrative support within an engineering or similar technical environment, with an understanding of engineering processes and documentation requirements.
  • Candidates should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic SQL skills.
